Overview of the course

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB), awarded by the University of London, provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, institutions and practices of English common law.

The University of London LLB programme benefits from academic direction provided by the prestigious Laws Consortium, comprising six leading University of London law schools: Birkbeck, King's College London, LSE, Queen Mary University of London, SOAS and UCL. The University of London awards the degree, while the Laws Consortium provides academic direction.

The programme introduces students to fundamental areas of legal study, including contract law, criminal law, public law, tort law and other core legal disciplines.

Admissions Requirement for Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Intermediate/HSSC, A Levels or an accepted equivalent qualification.
Compliance with applicable HEC requirements and Pakistan Bar Council requirements.
Satisfaction of the University of London's entry requirements for the relevant LLB route.
English-language proficiency as required by the University.

Course Modules

The LLB degree is available through a 12 course Standard Route. To complete the programme in as few as three years, students must take the equivalent of four full courses per year.

Assessments in Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Aside from a few exceptions, each full course is examined by one three-hour unseen written examination and each half course by one two-hour unseen written examination. The assessment of some courses also involves the submission of coursework or a project – in these cases, details are included as part of the course syllabus.

In the final year of your course, the dissertation unit will allow you to undertake a complex research project in a subject area of your choosing. With the support of your supervisor, you will be expected to formulate a relevant and viable research question. The project will allow you to further develop your legal research skills and the ability to communicate knowledge, findings and recommendations.

Mode of Study in Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

The programme is taught using face-to-face learning. Students will have access to IVY resources as well as University of London VLE to complete their studies/modules. Support will be provided by local tutors at IVY
