Dr. Asad is Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer for Community Health Solutions, one of the biggest NGOs in Pakistan which has nearly 100 health care centres in the cities, in the underprivileged areas of Pakistan and in developing countries like Philippines; providing free diagnosis and treatment of Tuberculosis. This organisation received direct & in-direct funding of over $54 million from ‘Global Fund’ by Bill Gates & Melinda Gates Global Foundation for the diagnosis & eradication of Tuberculosis in Pakistan.

Dr. Asad is directly responsible for organising and establishing over 70 health-care centres in Sehatmand Zindagi in rural Sindh and Punjab. It has now opened several centres in KPK also. The largest ‘TB’ detecting organisation in Karachi, ‘CHS’ conducts over 60,000 x-rays per month, and more than 15,000 genexpert molecular tests, a very expensive procedure. In-spite of this, all health care provided to patients is completely free of cost. Around 35,000- 40,000 patients are being treated completely per annum with numbers on the rise. The aim is to eradicate tuberculosis from Pakistan. Not only this, the network of the organisation is to be used for improving maternal health, childhood vaccination, detection and treatment of diabetes mellitus and training of paramedics.

The system is being designed in a manner to become self-sufficient and sustain itself once the funding is consumed. It is planned to introduce the same model of disease detection and treatment in other countries also in Africa and possibly in the Philippines. Dr. Asad is currently pursuing PhD in Global Health Program from UCL on 130% Commonwealth Scholarship.
